Q: Do I need to be a member of the Honors Program to take an Honors course?
Q: I am a member of the Honors Program, but I can’t seem to add
this Honors course to my schedule. What’s the deal?
A: Honors courses are restricted. You can only be granted permission
to add an Honors course if you see one of the Honors academic counselors.
You might also consider any of the following: Is your student account current with the Bursar's Office? If not, they can place a hold on your account. Make sure to pay all of your parking fees, or the Parking Office will place a hold on your account, as well. Have you been advised (if you have fewer than 24 hours)? If you haven't, there will be an advising hold on your account that ONLY a counselor can lift. Please make sure to check each of these before phoning with problems.
Q: This Honors course that I want to take is listed as open, but I was
told the class was full. How is this possible?
A: Permission to add an Honors course is on a first-come, first-served
basis. Once a class has been filled, a waiting list is created that contains
the names and contact info for interested students. If an opening in
the course arises, students are contacted in the order they appear on
the waiting list and given up to 48 hours to add the course to their
schedules. If they decline the spot, or do not respond within the 48
hour period, the next student on the waiting list is contacted.
Q: Do I need to be a member of the Honors Program to take an Honors
course?
A: In order to be considered eligible to taken an Honors course, a student
needs only to have a G.P.A. at the University of Louisville of 3.35 or
higher.
Q: I was given a course number during my advising appointment, but when
I try to register with it, I can't get into the class. What is wrong?
A: The information on section and course numbers is provided to us very
early on. During the course of the semester, and up until registration
begins, changes may be made to the information provided to us. If in
doubt, be sure to double check the on-line schedule of courses as it
reflects the most recent information on each course.
