Degree Types

The UofL Department of Chemistry offers Ph.D. and M.S. degrees. Students may also participate in joint programs with the Department of Physics or Western Kentucky University.
 

Financial Support

A variety of funding opportunities are available. Teaching assistantships offer a competitive stipend that includes tuition remission and health insurance. Individual faculty advisors may also offer research assistantships.

Highly qualified applicants will be considered for Fellowships from the University or the Department. Additional fellowship opportunities are available for minorities and underrepresented groups. The CSC program provides fellowships to highly qualified Chinese applicants.

The GEMS program offers a higher stipend for graduate students engaged in this collaborative effort between the University of Louisville (UofL) and the Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS).

Applications

Review of applications for the Fall term begins early in the Spring term and continues until all positions are filled. Students wishing to be considered for University Fellowships should submit completed applications by January 15. Applications received after this date will be considered for other positions based on availability. Students are also admitted in the Spring term based on availability of positions. Please contact Sherry Nalley about current openings.

Applications are submitted through the Graduate School. Only complete applications can be fully considered.
