Since the early 1980s one research interest has been deep cave archaeology of the central Kentucky karst - including both prehistoric and historic cultural activity of cave exploration, exploitation, and tourism. Ancillary to the examination of the in-cave artifacts is the examination of the historic documents associated with early cave exploration and tourism. Another archaeological interest I have is the investigation of historic cemeteries that involve remote sensing, delineation of individual graves and cemeteries, as well as recovering and identification of human remains and historical investigations to provide positive identifications of historic burials.
