I work at the University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky. I'm an Associate Professor of Mathematics and have been at U of L for eight years.
I am interested in a wide range of teaching interests, related to college-level mathematics. This year, I am the Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Department of Mathematics at the University of Louisville. We will be undertaking a complete review of our undergraduate course offerings and programs. I have been interested for some time in general education mathematics courses. Large numbers of students come to the university underprepared in mathematics. What can be done to turn around these students? Why do they need to study mathematics? I have been involved with support programs for our entry-level courses.
My research interest is universal algebra. I am especially interested in connections between semigroup theory and universal algebra. Much of my work is in tame congruence theory and other means used to understand finite algebras.
