OMIM - Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man

Welcome to OMIMTM, Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man. This database is a catalog of human genes and genetic disorders authored and edited by Dr. Victor A. McKusick and his colleagues at Johns Hopkins and elsewhere, and developed for the World Wide Web by NCBI, the National Center for Biotechnology Information. The database contains textual information, pictures, and reference information. It also contains copious links to NCBI's Entrez database of MEDLINE articles and sequence information.

This home page is an entryway into using OMIM.  The links to left provide further technical information, searching options, help in using OMIM, frequently asked questions (FAQ), and information on allied resources.

NOTE: OMIM is intended for use primarily by physicians and other professionals concerned with genetic disorders, by genetics researchers, and by advanced students in science and medicine. The images associated with some OMIM entries are links to an image archive at the Neonatology on the Web site which is solely responsible for the online publishing of these images. Non-medical users, and professional users viewing these images outside their areas of expertise are strongly urged to seek the assistance of an expert in the interpretation of OMIM text and images.
